Schools' Service
Welcome to the Schools’ Service. The service operates from Library HQ., John's Green House, John's Green, Kilkenny and provides free support for all the primary schools in County Kilkenny.
Teachers are welcome to come to the Schools' Service to exchange their loans of books and other materials. A limited selection of Class Readers and Special Needs books are included in the Schools’ Collection. Please make an appointment before visiting to ensure that a member of staff will be there to assist you.

We also offer a Schools’ Library Service through the following means:
- Class visits and /or block loans from your nearest library i.e. City Library, John’s Quay, Loughboy, Castlecomer, Graiguenamanagh, Urlingford, | Callan and Thomastown.
- Mobile library visit or block loans for schools at/adjacent to Mobile Library Stops.
- Retention/renewal of existing loans from Schools’ Library van by contacting the Schools' Service..
- Schools may also return their block loans to any library in the county.

Teacher’s Resource Service
This service was created to support Special Needs and Learning Support staff in primary schools. The aim of the service is to provide supportive material that can help children of all ages with learning difficulties.
Where possible, teachers are requested to visit the Schools' Service in John’s Green House and choose their own resource material. Below is a list of the material available in the Teacher’s Resource Collection.

Teachers' Collection
The Schools' Section also has a collection of material specifically for teachers. Topics included in this collection include teaching skills, dyslexia, sociology and emotional development of children. This material is available for borrowing.
